Join Point Blank’s Andrew Burns and Natasha Madison as they explore strategies and tactics to fight against regressive forces, with a focus on re-engaging supporters after this period of sustained and rolling crises. We’ll explore strategies that are working, developing a fightback plan, adapting to change in the uncertain future and how to bring supporters back on board after an intense 18 months of COVID and crisis, where many supporters were focused on other issues.

How We Win: Hayden Munro (Capital NZ)
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Get a behind-the-scenes look at of one of the most successful progressive campaigns of 2020 and how to apply it to your own work.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at of one of the most successful progressive campaigns of 2020 with Hayden Munro, campaign manager for Jacinda Ardern's New Zealand Labour 2020 election campaign. Hayden willl trace the story of Labour's path from a historic low in 2014, to their massive victory in 2020 -- and nerd out on what made it all possible: from tight, disciplined messaging, to hiring professional field organizers and investing massively in digital, to a 'relentlessly positive' campaign. Dig into the tactics, tools, and approaches to learn what it takes to win.

Following Hayden, you’ll hear from an expert panel moderated by New Westminster City Councillor and co-founder of The Feminist Campaign School Nadine Nakagawa, featuring Madhuri Venkateswar (Avalanche Insights), Zain Velji (Northweather), and Andrew Burns (Point Blank Creative). Consider your own campaign goals, and work through how you could adapt these learnings for your context.

In this presentation you’ll learn to:

  • Recognize, explore and unpack sources of digital burnout;
  • Understand the signs and signals of high stress, and;
  • Consider ways to manage your energy and time.
